Keynote Speaker: Robin Lunn, Executive Director, Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists, will address the need for this safe-place of listening.
Purpose: This "Assembly of the Injured" is a time when doors and ears are open to folks who feel bruised and broken by some aspect of church teachings and/or actions regarding sexuality and gender identity, no matter what denomination has clouded the past.
They Broke Me Trying to Fix Me: for those who have found themselves under the influence of church-directed teachings and/or programs that condemn a sexual orientation or a gender identity.
Home-Grown Hurt: for those who have had family members use Bible verses or home-brewed religious doctrine to condemn a sexual orientation or a gender identity.
Our Pledge: Crescent Hill Baptist Church has covenanted together never to discriminate against any of its members in regards to consideration for ordination, hiring, and provision of religious celebrations for couples. We are a member of the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists. Although we love our way of being a community of faith, we do not intend for this conference to be a lure to haul you into our pews. If you like us and want to find out more about us, you will be warmly welcomed. Our purpose for putting this conference together is to get folks back on their spiritual feet no matter where those feet take them or keep them.
Registration: Registration is not required.
Childcare: Childcare is provided from birth through 5th grade. Reservations for childcare must be made by October 18. Call the office at 896-4425 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
