Rooted in Tradition, Growing in Freedom
Who We Are
Wait, Aren’t Baptists…You know?
We hear you.
At Crescent Hill, our roots are in the Baptist tradition, and we understand that many “Baptists” have caused some serious religious trauma.
A Community of Faith and Freedom
Empowering Individual Belief and Collective Leadership
At Crescent Hill, “Baptist” means we’re a community-led church. It means we’re free to discern and follow the Holy Spirit’s call for our church’s leadership and ministry.
We proudly affirm and advocate for the full leadership of women in ordained ministry. In fact, our church was the birthplace of BWIM, or Baptist Women in Ministry, a group committed to advocating for women in ministry for over 50 years. (For more information about BWIM, visit: https://bwim.info)
Though many of us grew up in Baptist traditions, we’re a community of diverse religious expressions. We don’t ask any of our members to express a belief in a particular doctrinal statement to become a member. We believe in the freedom of every person to wrestle with, deconstruct, question, and articulate their faith.
We believe in the power and freedom of living out our faith in community.
Our Baptist Affiliations
Partnering with Progressive Baptist Networks
Our church chooses to participate in the ministries of our larger Baptist family through relationships with the Alliance of Baptists, American Baptist Churches, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and the Association of Welcoming and Affirming Baptists.
Our Commitment to Theological Education
